“ I think it was a very useful experience, not only in the case of our project, but also as a good foundation for every business we may start in the future.
“ It was a special week filled with hard work and learning. I met amazing people who helped me take the first steps with my startup.
“ The program was very useful as it provided the notions of executing an idea effectively. The biggest lesson I learned was ‘getting market validation’. I think this is one of the main steps when working on a new project.
“ I think the best thing the program offered was the intersection of all the skills we had learned, such as BMC, design thinking, pitching, and even more!
“ My favourite part were the 8 days, see how our plans became a reality, the good environment, that people share their projects, see how ideas get mature, see how they become friends, was a very busy week but totally worth it.
“ Altogether the teams were amazing, made considerable progress and all of them wish to continue with their startups. We will be in touch to see how we can further help, as true pirates: we stick together
“ The last night before final pitches - we were working that day 15,5 hours, pirates from different teams were helping each other with presentations. I've stayed with the participants all the time and only the power of the whole program made me wake up every day after 4 hours of sleep.
“ Startup Pirates is a great program. Long but very effective. I have just one recommendation, don't stop, because you are doing a great job. :) I have so many testimonials and questions on when will be the second edition and that makes me really proud.

1 chimney set on fire at Startup Pirates @ Zaragoza
In the final day, a team’s spokesman of the idea had a motorcycle accident. We were not counting he would come (because emergencies often take a while to assist you). However, he was so excited to present their project that 10 minutes before the end of the pitch session, he came with an ice pack on his face and ended up being one of the winning projects. For those wondering, everything is ok with him.
At Startup Pirates @ Porto we burned a pizza in the oven triggering the smoke alarm. Crazy moments to discover where the noise was coming from.
